ORFEO ST

The ORFEO ST hybrid sunflower is a medium-height plant with a height of 150 to 170 cm and a flower head diameter of 19-23 cm. It is characterized by rapid early growth and medium flowering onset, making it suitable for early planting. The vegetation period ranges from 108 to 118 days, and the sum of effective temperatures to maturity reaches 1760 °C. The recommended planting density varies depending on soil moisture: from 45 to 60 thousand plants per hectare. The flower head inclination is semi-upright, facilitating harvest and reducing yield losses.

ORFEO ST belongs to the linoleic type of hybrids with oil content in seeds ranging from 49 to 52%, ensuring high oil content and stable oil yield. The seeds have good kernel quality (380-430 g/l) and a 1000-seed mass of about 65 g. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging (9 points) and shattering, contributing to yield retention. It also demonstrates high drought tolerance (7-8 points), making it suitable for cultivation in various soil-climatic conditions, including steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.

Special attention has been given to the disease and pest resistance of ORFEO ST. The hybrid shows tolerance to downy mildew (6 ratings A-F) and high resistance to Fusarium and Fusarium (9 points), gray mold (8), rust (8), false powdery mildew (8), and white mold (7). This comprehensive protection enables stable and guaranteed seed and oil yields even under adverse conditions. The seeds of the hybrid are treated with Cruiser, Maxim HL, and Vitazim, providing additional protection during early growth stages.
