Sunflower Maypo

Reliable Yields in Clearfield Systems

Selecting Maipo by Limagrain is a strategic decision for growers employing the Clearfield (Euro-Lightning) production system. In fields where weed pressure is a limiting factor, this sunflower hybrid provides a robust tool for efficient herbicide application, allowing the crop to express its full genetic yield potential without competition from weeds.

Genetic Defense Against Major Pathogens

The Maipo hybrid is engineered by Limagrain to handle high-stress environments. Its genetic resilience to a wide range of diseases, including verticillium, sclerotinia, phomopsis, and rust, reduces the reliance on heavy fungicide applications. Notably, its resistance to downy mildew (peronospora) ensures uniform plant stands from the early growth stages.

Agronomic Performance and Quality

As a simple hybrid of French origin, Maipo offers consistent oil content ranging between 45% and 50%, providing excellent value to processors. The head shape is slightly convex, which is an intentional design feature to improve water drainage and decrease the risk of head rot, even under volatile weather conditions.

• Weed Management: Fully compatible with imidazolinone herbicides, ensuring cleaner fields throughout the season.
• Growth Profile: Provides uniform plant height and maturity, which significantly simplifies the harvesting process.
• Profitability: Combines high oil output with minimized input costs related to disease and weed control.

Choosing Maipo means securing a high-performance crop that meets European quality standards while providing the practical tools needed to manage complex field challenges effectively.
