Maypo is an early-maturing linoleic-type sunflower hybrid with high plasticity and adaptability to unconventional growing conditions, such as minimal soil preparation and late sowing. It features a moderately intensive growth type and low plant height with a semi-prostrate flower head inclination. The hybrid is resistant to Clearfield Plus herbicides and exhibits high resistance to various races (A, B, C, D, E, G) of the parasitic weed Russian thistle, ensuring effective weed and pest control.
Maypo boasts high yield potential, reaching 50 centners per hectare (4.40 tons per hectare), and high oil content in seeds — from 49% to 51%. Additionally, seeds contain 16–18% protein. The hybrid demonstrates excellent resistance to major sunflower diseases such as rust, false powdery mildew, Phomopsis, verticillium wilt, and sclerotinia, as well as high drought tolerance and resistance to lodging and shattering. The recommended plant density at harvest is 50–55 thousand plants per hectare.
Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and resistance to adverse factors, Maypo is a reliable choice for cultivation in various regions of Ukraine. Its use allows obtaining stable and high sunflower yields with high oil content, making this hybrid attractive to agricultural producers focused on quality and efficiency.
