Rapeseed Dazzler

The Genetic Architecture of Dazzler Hybrid

Winter oilseed rape "Dazzler" from the German breeding house Deutsche Saatveredelung is a product focused on stability under intensive farming conditions. The development of this hybrid by Dieter Stelling and the DSV team prioritized the balance between vegetative biomass and the plant's generative potential.

Biological Potential and Morphology

A stem height range of 170-180 cm indicates a well-developed habitus, ensuring efficient solar energy interception and the formation of a robust root system. This plant architecture is critical for achieving the declared yield potential of 50-60 dt/ha. Realizing these figures requires precise seeding rates and adequate mineral nutrition, as a large plant consumes significant resources during its active growth phase.

Phytosanitary Resilience

A key engineering decision in the Dazzler genotype is its comprehensive resistance to Phoma stem canker (Phoma lingam). This is not merely a marketing metric, but the result of targeted breeding to create protection against the pathogen that attacks the root neck. In practice, this minimizes the risks of lodging and premature tissue necrosis, which is vital for high-yield farming.

• Originator and breeder: Deutsche Saatveredelung (Germany).
• Type: Winter hybrid.
• Adaptability: High-productivity backgrounds with intensive cultivation technology.
• Phytosanitary profile: Enhanced resistance to key pathogens (Phoma).

The use of genetic material from Dieter Stelling allows farmers to expect predictable crop development even during temperature fluctuations in the autumn-spring period. Dazzler demonstrates high plasticity, making it an effective tool for reducing production risks while targeting top-tier yields.
