ES Starbella — an early-maturing, intensive-type sunflower hybrid, intended for traditional cultivation methods. It exhibits very rapid early growth and high adaptability to various soil-climatic conditions, enabling stable yields in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissia regions of Ukraine. The vegetation period is 90-105 days, plant height reaches approximately 150 cm, and the flower head diameter is 20-22 cm. The oil content of the hybrid is within the range of 49-51%, ensuring high efficiency in oil production.
The ES Starbella hybrid has high yield potential — up to 50 centners per hectare — and is characterized by strong initial growth energy, promoting rapid plant development in early stages. The 1000-seed mass is approximately 60 grams, further indicating seed quality. Plants have a drooping flower head and are resistant to lodging, reducing yield losses under adverse weather conditions.
Special attention has been given to the hybrid’s resistance to diseases and stress factors. ES Starbella is genetically resistant to 7 races of downy mildew (Peronospora), making it ideal for sowing on infested fields. Additionally, the hybrid exhibits high tolerance to major sunflower diseases, including Phomopsis, head and stem sclerotinia, phomosis, and verticillium wilt. Drought and lodging resistance are rated at 8 points, ensuring reliability and stability of yields under various cultivation conditions.
