Flax Svetlyachok

Technical Profile of the 'Svetlyachok' Oilseed Flax

Developed by the Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (VNIIMK), this variety is a specialized tool for industrial oil production. Its utility lies in a rigorous balance between plant architecture and seed biochemical composition.

Biochemical Efficiency and Yield Potential

The core advantage of 'Svetlyachok' is its oil content, ranging from 40% to 44%. This high lipid accumulation capacity ensures efficient throughput for oil processors. With a potential yield of 1.5–2.5 t/ha, the variety demonstrates significant economic stability when supported by standard agronomic management.

Morphological Architecture

• Plant Height: 50–60 cm. The compact habit reduces lodging risk, a critical design feature for minimizing harvest losses during mechanical harvesting.
• Variety Markers: White flowers and yellow seeds function as clear visual indicators for field purity.
• Application: Optimized exclusively for oil production. The plant's metabolism is geared towards the effective mobilization of carbohydrates into seed lipids.

The engineering approach behind 'Svetlyachok' focuses on minimizing excessive vegetative mass. By capping the plant height at 50–60 cm, breeders have ensured that the plant utilizes available water and nutrients to drive seed development rather than stem growth. For agronomists, this translates to higher harvest efficiency and improved stress resilience in moisture-limited environments.
