The Priz hybrid sunflower is a mid-early oilseed variety with high yield up to 5.1 t/ha. It is distinguished by drought and disease resistance, making it an optimal choice for cultivation in dry regions such as the Forest Steppe and Steppe of Ukraine. The maturation period is 108-110 days, and the oil content of seeds reaches 50-52%, ensuring high efficiency in oil production.
One of the key features of the Priz hybrid is its resistance to various strains of the Russian thistle (volchok), including more than six species, which is especially important for southern and eastern regions where the spread of this parasite poses a serious threat to crops. The deep taproot system allows the plant to penetrate to depths of 2.5–3 meters, ensuring access to moisture even under severe soil and air drought conditions.
Priz sunflower seeds are widely used in the oil industry due to their high oleic acid content, making them valuable for producing high-quality oil and biofuel. For successful cultivation, well-drained soils and sufficient sunlight, along with proper agronomic care, are required. This hybrid contributes to enhancing food security and developing the agricultural economy in regions with adverse climatic conditions.
