Jadeit

Sugar beet of the Jadeit variety is a high-yielding crop with high yield potential and sugar content. The plant forms a medium-sized leaf rosette with a semi-spreading shape and dark green leaves. The root has a cylindrical or oval-conical shape, deeply embedded in the soil (up to 85%), with a smooth surface, facilitating harvest and reducing soil adhesion. The average root weight is about 700 grams, and the vegetative period lasts up to 120 days, corresponding to average maturity. The Jadeit variety is characterized by high drought and cold resistance, ensured by a well-developed taproot system penetrating to a depth of 2–2.5 meters. This allows the plant to effectively absorb moisture from deep soil layers and withstand adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the crop is resistant to major diseases such as cercospora, powdery mildew, and root rot, as well as to bolting, which contributes to maintaining the quality and storability of the harvest. Sugar beet Jadeit is warm-loving and heat-tolerant, with an optimal growth temperature of 20–22°C, although photosynthesis continues at temperatures above 40°C. The plant requires adequate moisture, especially during the intensive root growth period in July–August. During the pre-harvest period, the crop can withstand frosts down to -5°C without damage to sugar accumulation. Jadeit is widely used in the food industry for sugar and syrup production, as well as in cooking for making borscht and kvass. Additionally, the variety is used as a non-waste feed crop, making it versatile and economically advantageous.
