Sugar beet Rigoletto

Stable Yields Under High Disease Pressure

Managing sugar beet crops often feels like a constant battle against the weather and soil-borne diseases. The "Rigoletto" hybrid from the German breeder Strube has become a go-to choice for fields with high infection pressure. As an E-type (high-yield) hybrid, it consistently delivers, even in challenging environments where other varieties tend to succumb to root rots.

Practical Agronomic Resilience

What makes a real difference in the field is the reduced need for constant fungicide intervention. Rhizoctonia and Rhizomania are significant threats, yet "Rigoletto" shows impressive resilience against them. The canopy remains robust throughout the season, providing a clear advantage against Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew. This healthy foliage is essential for maximum photosynthesis and root development.

Field Performance and Harvesting

• High-Yield Type (E): Engineered for maximum tonnage, the hybrid develops uniform, well-shaped roots that are easy to harvest mechanically.
• Growth Dynamics: Strong seedling vigor allows for quick row closure, suppressing weed growth and reducing the need for late-stage herbicide applications.
• Operational Efficiency: Clean extraction of roots from the soil reduces impurity levels, which means less wear on harvesting equipment and smoother logistics at the collection point.

For an operator, "Rigoletto" is a reliable, low-maintenance workhorse. It is highly responsive to standard fertilization practices and maintains a steady growth rate even when nutritional conditions are not perfect. For farms dealing with heavy disease pressure or intensive sugar beet rotations, this Strube hybrid provides a significant safety net. You get consistent yield results while cutting down on input costs associated with intensive disease management.
