Sugar beet NEXUS

Engineering Productivity: The Nexus Hybrid Profile

The Nexus sugar beet hybrid, developed by Denmark’s DLF, represents a precise approach to the 'Normal-Sugar' (NZ) genetic type. By utilizing a diploid ploidy structure, DLF has engineered a plant that prioritizes uniformity and physiological stability. The result is a middle-sized, broad-conical root system designed to balance biomass production with a consistent sugar content of 16–17%.

Genetic Resistance Architecture

The technical superiority of Nexus lies in its internal phytosanitary defense, which significantly reduces the reliance on intensive chemical interventions. The hybrid is specifically bred to mitigate the impact of common fungal pathogens:

• Powdery Mildew Resistance: By protecting the foliage, Nexus ensures that the photosynthetic engine remains active during critical sugar-accumulation phases.
• Disease Tolerance: The genetic profile provides robust resistance against common rots and scab, ensuring that the integrity of the root surface remains intact from sowing through to harvesting.

In practice, the diploid nature of this hybrid delivers a consistent crop stand, which is vital for efficient mechanical harvesting. By selecting Nexus, growers benefit from a predictable growth pattern that reduces the risk of bolting and stress-induced yield losses, making it a reliable choice for intensive farming operations looking for a combination of high sugar yield and disease security.
