Sugar beet Eveita

Field Performance: Evita (KWS UA 338)

When selecting a sugar beet hybrid, the focus should be on balancing high sugar content with field resilience. The Evita (KWS UA 338) hybrid from KWS is a classic NZ-type (normal-sugar) variety that has proven itself in diverse environments. As a diploid hybrid, it offers excellent consistency, which is a significant advantage for commercial-scale operations.

Disease Resilience and Management

For any farm manager, minimizing disease pressure is key to reducing input costs. Evita demonstrates robust genetic resistance to several major challenges, which allows for a more flexible and economical fungicide program.

• Cercospora leaf spot and Ramularia — the hybrid maintains a healthy green canopy significantly longer than sensitive varieties.
• Powdery mildew and root rots — these risks are mitigated by the hybrid's natural vigor.
• Phytophthora — providing stability even in moist, challenging growing seasons.

Operational Efficiency

From the perspective of a harvester operator, Evita is highly desirable. The roots have a uniform structure and consistent sizing, which ensures smooth performance during mechanical harvesting. The plant architecture allows for efficient cleaning of the soil, which reduces fuel consumption and wear on the machine's digging components. Because the stand is so uniform, the harvest proceeds at a steady pace, reducing machine downtime and labor costs. Whether you are dealing with standard or high-intensity management, this hybrid offers the reliability needed for predictable, high-yield results.
