Description
The SAMER 2 soybean variety is a mid-early determinate grain-type variety, developed in collaboration with the Yerшов experimental station for irrigated agriculture and the Samara Branch of the V.L. Komarov Institute of Plant Physiology named after N.M. Tulaykov. The plant is low-growing and compact, with reddish-brown pubescence, oval-shaped leaflets that are light green and medium in size. The flowers are purple, and the seeds are elongated-depressed, yellow with a black hilum and eye, weighing between 138.2 and 174.7 grams. The height of the lower pod attachment varies from 10 to 18 cm, ensuring ease of mechanized harvesting and reducing crop losses.
The variety is characterized by high yield: average indicators in the region are 15.0 c/ha, while in favorable years, yields reach 20.0-21.4 c/ha, and the maximum recorded yield was 27.3 c/ha. SAMER 2 exhibits high resistance to lodging and seed shattering, making it particularly suitable for mechanized collection. Additionally, the variety demonstrates resistance to downy mildew and other fungal diseases, confirmed by the absence of damage in field trials.
The protein content in the seeds of this variety is on average 35.5%, and fat is 21.7%, making it valuable for the production of dietary food products. The branching of the plant is average, however, the variety can compensate for this by forming additional side branches in sparse plantings, which prevents yield loss. Due to its characteristics and resistance, SAMER 2 is a reliable choice for cultivation in the Central Volga region.
