The Sigalia soybean variety is a mid-season hybrid distinguished by its high yield potential and resistance to adverse conditions. Registered in 2014 and produced by Saatbau Linz, it has a vegetation period of approximately 110 days and an indeterminate growth habit. Plant height ranges from 70 to 90 cm, and seed weight per 1000 seeds is between 180 and 220 grams. The flowers of this variety are purple, and the lower pods are located 14–18 cm above the ground.
Sigalia exhibits high resistance to lodging and pod cracking, which helps preserve yield and improve seed quality. The variety demonstrates high resistance to various diseases, including downy mildew, bacterial blight, sclerotinia, and viral infections, with resistance ratings of 8, 8, 6, and 8 respectively. Additionally, it is highly drought-tolerant and ecologically adaptable, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including the Forest Steppe, Steppe, and Polissia regions, as well as in organic farming.
The yield potential of the Sigalia variety ranges from 2.8 to 3.2 tons per hectare (or 40–45 c/ha). Protein content in the seeds is between 39–42%, and oil content is 20–22%, making this variety a mid-oil type with high product quality. The recommended seeding rate is 550,000 to 750,000 seeds per hectare, with row spacing of 12.5 to 25 cm. Due to its characteristics and resistance, Sigalia is one of the leading varieties in its maturity group in Europe and is popular among farmers.
