Soybean Amadea

Austrian breeding for stable yields

The Amadea soybean variety from the renowned Austrian breeding house Saatzucht Donau Ges.M.B.H. & Cokg has established itself as a reliable early-maturing cultivar, aimed at farmers who value the balance between rapid maturation and high grain quality. As a product of the European breeding school, it is specifically optimized for adaptability to temperate climate zones.

Biological profile and agronomic traits

The variety belongs to the 90–100 day maturity group, making it an excellent choice for regions with shorter or moderately warm growing seasons. The compact plant structure, reaching 70–80 cm in height, minimizes lodging risks. A crucial technological advantage is the height of the lower pod attachment (14–16 cm). This parameter is vital for mechanized harvesting, allowing combine harvesters to operate with minimal yield losses.

Grain quality meets high-intensity agricultural standards:

• Protein content: 39–41%.
• Oil content: 20–21%.

Phytosanitary resistance

Crop health is the foundation of profitability. Amadea demonstrates robust resistance to diseases that frequently jeopardize soybean yields. Breeders have instilled strong immunity against downy mildew (peronosporosis) and bacteriosis. Additionally, the variety has proven its resilience against pathogens causing Sclerotinia, allowing for a reduction in fungicide applications without compromising the final output.

To this day, Saatzucht Donau remains the originator and patent holder of Amadea, maintaining strict quality control over seed production. This variety is the choice for growers seeking stability in unpredictable climatic conditions and looking for consistent performance at the scale.
