The soybean variety Prykarpats'ka 96 is one of the productive varieties developed in Ukraine jointly with the Institute of Feed and Agriculture of Podolia NAAN. This variety is characterized by a medium-early vegetation period, disease resistance, and suitability for mechanized harvesting. Prykarpats'ka 96 yields seeds in the range of 2.0–2.5 tons per hectare, with a 1000-seed mass of 110–130 grams. A key feature of this variety is its high protein content in seeds — 38.3%, as well as oil content — 20.7%, making it valuable for both feed and food purposes.
Soy is considered a strategic crop of the 21st century due to its high production growth rates and significant contribution to the supply of protein and oil resources. Moreover, soy cultivation contributes to increasing yields of other crops such as winter wheat, corn, winter rye, and oats, thanks to improved crop rotation and biological nitrogen fixation in the soil. This makes soy an important element in the development of the agricultural sector and strengthening the country's food security.
In Ukraine, soy cultivation, including the variety Prykarpats'ka 96, holds promising prospects due to the expansion of planting areas and adoption of new production technologies. Soy not only provides high-quality raw material for the food and feed industries but also contributes to solving strategic tasks for economic and agricultural sector development, as well as maintaining soil fertility through biological nitrogen fixation.
