Agronomic management of DM Danubia

The DM Danubia soybean hybrid, developed by GDM Hungary Kft., is set to enter the Ukrainian market in 2026. As a complex hybrid, it requires a precise agronomic approach to fully leverage its genetic yield potential in intensive farming systems.

Sowing strategy and plant placement

Sowing should commence only when soil temperatures at seeding depth reach 10–12°C. To optimize light interception and airflow, a row spacing of 35–45 cm is recommended. This configuration helps mitigate the risk of fungal diseases in the lower canopy while promoting uniform plant development.

• Seeding depth: 3–4 cm, adjusted according to topsoil moisture levels.
• Planting density: 550,000–600,000 viable seeds per hectare to ensure consistent maturity.
• Soil requirements: The hybrid performs best in fertile chernozems and loams with a neutral pH level.

Phase-specific care

The flowering and pod-filling stages are critical for DM Danubia. During these phases, the plant has a high demand for available moisture. In regions prone to mid-summer droughts, irrigation is highly recommended, as the hybrid's complex genetic structure supports an active metabolism during the grain-filling period.

Weed control must be completed before canopy closure. While DM Danubia is efficient at nitrogen fixation, applying phosphorus and potassium fertilizers during primary tillage is essential to support robust root development and overall plant vigor. Proper management of these factors ensures the hybrid's high-yield potential is fully realized.
