The «PRO Taranaki» hybrid, developed by Protealis NV and introduced to the market in 2025, represents the latest generation of Belgian breeding. To achieve the genetic yield potential of this complex hybrid, growers must adhere to precise agronomic practices tailored to its specific growth stages.

Seeding Strategy and Plant Density

Sowing should commence once soil temperatures reach +10...+12°C at the seeding depth. The recommended row spacing is 15–30 cm. To ensure optimal nutrient uptake and branching, the target harvest density should be between 550,000 and 600,000 plants per hectare. Proper spacing is critical to minimize competition and maximize light interception.

Soil Requirements and Irrigation

This hybrid thrives in fertile, well-drained soils with a neutral pH (6.5–7.2). Soil structure is paramount for root development and nitrogen fixation. Water management is crucial, especially during the R3 (beginning pod) to R6 (full seed) stages. While «PRO Taranaki» exhibits good resilience, supplemental irrigation during these critical windows can increase yield by 15–20%.

Growth Stage Management
