Description Picasso
Winter rye of the Picasso variety is a high-yielding diploid hybrid with medium-late maturity and a vegetation period of 283 to 325 days. During this period, the plant develops a high yield potential, averaging 53.0 to 89.2 centners per hectare. The hybrid is adapted for cultivation across the entire country and demonstrates excellent phytosanitary condition throughout the entire vegetation period. High tillering coefficient and a large number of stems per plant (about 21) allow sowing rates to be reduced to 1.8–2.0 million germinated seeds per hectare.

Picasso rye forms intermediate or semi-erect type tillers, approximately 120 cm tall. The stems have slight hairs beneath the spike and exhibit high resistance to lodging. The flag leaf, 24–26 cm long, is covered with a strong waxy coating, while the spike, spindle-shaped and 10–12 cm long, contains 35–40 seeds of uniform size and dark elongated color. Due to these characteristics, the variety is primarily oriented toward baking qualities, making it especially valuable for producing high-quality flour.

Picasso rye seeds exhibit good germination and cold resistance, ensuring high winter hardiness and stable yields under various climatic and agronomic conditions, including uplands. The variety also shows high resistance to diseases, reducing the risk of yield loss and making it a reliable choice for agricultural production.
