Rapeseed Odíla

Genetic Potential for Winter Hardiness

Czech breeding by Oseva Eximpo Praha S.R.O. in the 'Odila' variety focuses on physiological adaptability to the unstable climatic conditions of Central and Eastern Europe. The primary technological challenge addressed by this winter rapeseed is the minimization of risks during critical phases of autumn development.

Morphophysiological Features

• Autumn Tillering Dynamics: The variety demonstrates a balanced rate of vegetative mass accumulation. This prevents overgrowth before frosts arrive, which is critical for preserving the growing point.
• Root System Development: 'Odila' features a taproot with intensive penetration into lower soil horizons, ensuring efficient moisture uptake during the spring-summer period.
• Winter Hardiness: The traits engineered by the breeders allow the crop to effectively withstand sharp temperature fluctuations in winter and prevent winterkill in the absence of a stable snow cover.

Practical Significance for Agronomists

Incorporating 'Odila' into a crop rotation allows farmers to implement a predictable development model for the crop. The variety's high compensatory capacity enables it to even out stand density even if minor thinning occurs after winter. When nitrogen fertilizers and growth regulators are applied according to protocol, the variety efficiently converts resources into high-yield commercial seeds. This is an optimal choice for operations focused on stability and technological efficiency in winter crop cultivation, avoiding unnecessary agronomic risks.
