In 2025, the French breeding program NPZ (Norddeutsche Pflanzenzucht) introduced the intensive hybrid CEZANNE to the market. This F1 hybrid is designed for farmers prioritizing high oil content and yield stability amidst fluctuating climatic conditions.

Field performance and resistance

A key feature of CEZANNE is its intensive growth rate during the autumn period. This allows the crop to quickly establish a robust root system and accumulate sufficient sugars for successful overwintering. The hybrid's high winter hardiness minimizes the risk of crop loss even during sharp temperature drops.

Regarding phytosanitary control, the hybrid demonstrates high resistance to phoma stem canker due to the presence of the RLM7 genetic marker. This significantly simplifies crop protection and reduces the need for fungicide applications during critical vegetation phases.

Adaptability to stress factors

• Heat and drought: While the intensive growth type requires careful seeding density management, the hybrid's genetic plasticity allows it to efficiently utilize moisture during short-term drought periods.
• Lodging: Thanks to a strong stem and balanced height, CEZANNE shows excellent resistance to lodging, which is critical for efficient mechanical harvesting without yield losses.
• Growing zones: The hybrid is recommended for all soil and climatic zones where winter rapeseed is grown, owing to its ability to adapt to various soil types.

The medium-early maturity allows for optimal harvest scheduling, ensuring a consistently high oil content in the seeds even if summer temperature peaks occur early.
