Volga Grey 92 pumpkin is a mid-early, high-yielding variety with an original light-grey fruit color, sometimes with a greenish tint. The fruits have a flat-round shape with weak ribbing or are weakly segmented, weighing from 5 to 9 kg. The pumpkin flesh is dense, juicy, rich yellow with an orange tint, has a moderately sweet taste and good mealy texture. This variety is distinguished by excellent storability, allowing fruits to be stored without loss of taste qualities for 4-5 months, as well as resistance to rotting even on wet soil.
The plant is powerful, with stems up to 8 meters long, tolerates temperature drops well and can grow in shaded areas. The vegetative period is 100-120 days, during which the variety continues to form fruits with temperature changes. Successful cultivation requires regular watering and application of complex fertilizers, as well as adherence to agrotechnics. The variety has medium resistance to cucurbit diseases and pests, making it a reliable choice for gardeners.
Volga Grey 92 is suitable both for home cooking and for processing: dishes, juices, purees are prepared from the fruits, and they are also frozen. Moreover, pumpkin seeds are large, white and valued as raw material for medicinal preparations. For an earlier harvest, it is recommended to grow the pumpkin through seedlings. When sowing, seeds are soaked and germinated, planting 2-3 pieces in a hole with a depth of 4-5 cm on heavy soils and up to 10 cm on light soils, with interrow spacing of 70x70 cm for bush forms and 140x140 cm for vine forms.
