Watermelon WMH4746

Early Maturity as a Competitive Advantage

In the segment of ultra-early watermelons, the BMX4746 hybrid from the Swiss selection giant Syngenta occupies a unique niche. The primary objective of this hybrid is the fastest possible yield of marketable produce. A maturation period of 50-60 days allows farmers to hit the market first, exactly when prices for melons reach their seasonal peak.

Appearance and Internal Quality

Unlike classic round varieties, BMX4746 stands out with its round-elongated shape, which simplifies palletizing and shipping while making the fruits easily recognizable on store shelves. The flesh, with its characteristic pink color, has a firm texture and high sugar content. This makes the hybrid an optimal solution for the fresh market segment, where the appearance of the fruit when sliced plays a decisive role for the consumer.

Why Choose This Hybrid?

• Ideal for growers working in short-summer climates or aiming for two harvests per season using tunnel covers.
• Perfect for producers focused on wholesale trade at the beginning of summer, when demand for early produce is consistently high.
• Designed for durability: thanks to its specific shape and genetic strength, the fruit handles medium-distance transportation well without losing its commercial appearance.

It is important to note that ultra-early maturity requires precise adherence to fertilization schedules. BMX4746 is highly responsive to intensive cultivation technologies, though it may slow down growth rates if exposed to extreme cold early in the season. This is a tool for professionals who understand the financial value of an early harvest.
