Tamadur

Tamadur is an Austrian-developed spring hard wheat variety suitable for cultivation in the forest-steppe and steppe regions of Ukraine. It is a medium-early variety with a vegetation period of 90–95 days, exhibiting high resistance to lodging, shattering, and drought. The thousand-grain weight ranges from 42 to 48 grams, indicating its large kernel size. Tamadur stands out for its high protein content, reaching over 14.5%, and its high glassiness of grain (up to 90%), ensuring excellent technological qualities for pasta production.

Tamadur is characterized by stable and high yields, with potential yields of 70–75 centners per hectare under intensive or high-intensity cultivation. The recommended seeding rate is 4.0–4.5 million germination seeds per hectare, with optimal soil temperature for sowing ranging from 8–10°C. Due to its resistance to major diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, fusarium head blight, and root rot, this variety ensures reliable and safe harvests.

Tamadur has been included in the national variety register since 2018 and is part of the premium variety list under the cooperative marketing program "Durum Pannonikum" in Austria. Its superior pasta qualities and adaptability to various climatic conditions make it an attractive choice for farmers seeking high-quality and stable yields of hard wheat.
