Ionia

Wheat of the Ionia variety is a high-yielding, versatile variety recommended for cultivation throughout Ukraine. This variety is characterized by a prolonged seed dormancy period — 45-50 days, which ensures high resistance to grain germination in ears during delays and rainfall on ripening wheat. Ionia possesses high genetic productivity potential, with yields on various agrofond backgrounds ranging from 74.8 to 128.3 c/ha. It is a medium-maturing variety with a vegetation period of 274-278 days, allowing effective use in different climatic conditions. Ionia exhibits high frost and winter hardiness (8-9 points) as well as drought and heat resistance at the 8-9 level. The variety has good field resistance to brown rust (7-9 points) and powdery mildew (7-8 points), contributing to stable yields even under adverse weather conditions. Plant height is 95-102 cm, ears are white with a strong waxy coating, grain is red, 7.0-8.2 mm long, and 1000-grain weight — 42.4-46.5 g. The quality of Ionia wheat is high: flour strength is 384-435 arbitrary units, gluten content — 28.5-32.6%, and protein — 13.9-14.6%. These indicators make the variety attractive for producing high-quality flour and bakery products. Agronomic recommendations include optimal sowing dates and seeding rates, which help maximize the variety’s potential and achieve high yields of winter wheat.
