Winter wheat 'Donor Kyivsky' is one of the high-yielding varieties developed by scientists at the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under the leadership of Academician Vladimir Vasilievich Morgun. This variety is distinguished by its high ecological plasticity, enabling successful cultivation under various climatic conditions and ensuring stable yields. 'Donor Kyivsky' meets modern requirements of Ukraine's agricultural sector and is widely used for bread and bakery product production.
Winter wheat occupies a leading position among food crops due to the high nutritional content in its grain: 12–24% protein, 53–58% starch, about 2% fat, as well as ash and fiber. These characteristics make wheat especially valuable for human nutrition. The primary purpose of the 'Donor Kyivsky' variety is to provide the population with quality bread, which is a priority task for breeders striving to enhance the genetic potential and adaptability of crops to modern weather conditions.
Work on developing and improving wheat varieties such as 'Donor Kyivsky' is carried out by the team of the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which combines the scientific achievements of selection with practical needs of agriculture. Thanks to this, the yield potential of winter wheat is realized more fully, contributing to increased total grain harvests and strengthening the country's food security.
