Winter wheat Zemlyachka Odeska is a high-yield, versatile-purpose variety developed by the Ukrainian company JSC "Selenas". It is recommended for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine, where it demonstrates high resilience to various agro-ecological conditions and technological deviations. Due to its enhanced winter hardiness and frost resistance, this variety allows for a broader sowing window compared to other varieties. The vegetation period is 280-286 days, corresponding to the medium-maturing group. Plant height ranges from 94 to 105 cm, with a semi-erect plant habit. The ear is white, awned, and pyramidal in shape, with red, oval grains. The variety is characterized by high yield, which, over years of variety trials, reached 44.0 to 101.4 centners per hectare (4.4–10.1 tons per hectare). This is achieved through high grain density and large grain size, with a 1000-grain weight of 38–44 g. Zemlyachka Odeska is resistant to lodging, shattering, and grain germination in the ear, and exhibits enhanced drought tolerance at all growth stages. The variety is well-adapted to dry conditions of southern Ukraine’s Steppe and demonstrates resistance to root rot. Regarding diseases, the variety shows resistance to powdery mildew, brown, stem, and yellow rust, and is tolerant to Fusarium ear rot. However, it exhibits lower resistance to septoria. Grain quality is high: gluten content ranges from 27.3–30.4%, raw protein content — 12.8–14.5%. Bread volume from this grain reaches 1370–1410 cm³, and overall bread quality score ranges from 4.5–4.8 points, indicating valuable food characteristics of the variety.
