Tanaïs is a mid-early soft winter wheat variety, characterized by high adaptability and resistance to unfavorable conditions. The plant is short, with white, awless, beak-shaped ears of medium length and density, topped with awn-like appendages 5-10 cm long. The grain is large, with 1000-grain weight ranging from 36 to 48 grams, gluten content from 28 to 30%, and protein content of about 15%. The gluten quality is high, ensuring excellent baking properties of the flour, including a flour strength of 309 units and loaf volume up to 697 cm³, confirmed by an overall loaf score of 4.4 points. The Tanaïs variety differs in its high resistance to lodging and grain shedding, and also possesses good winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions. It exhibits field resistance to diseases such as loose smut and yellow rust, powdery bunt, and is less susceptible to powdery mildew compared to standards. The vegetative period lasts from 225 to 286 days, allowing effective use of the variety in regions with various agro-climatic conditions, including the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions, as well as the Rostov region, Stavropol Krai, and Krasnodar Krai zones. Tanaïs is recommended for cultivation on a high agro-ecological background, which contributes to achieving an average yield of about 5.7 tons per hectare. Due to its qualities and resistance, the variety belongs to the group of strong wheats, making it in demand among agricultural producers focused on obtaining high-quality grain and flour with excellent baking characteristics.
