Ksantia

Ksantia — this is a hard winter wheat variety Triticum durum, developed by the Institute of Plant Growing named after V.Ya. Yuryev of NAAN in Kharkiv and registered in 2019. The variety is characterized by a medium-length vegetation period of 96 days and is recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone. Plants have an average height of about 96 cm and demonstrate moderate resistance to lodging, ensuring reliable harvest reliability.

Ksantia is distinguished by high plasticity and significant yield potential. The average yield of the variety is 4.69 t/ha, and the maximum may reach 6.4 t/ha. It surpasses standard varieties in protein content, which can reach up to 15%, as well as in overall pasta score, which is 8.1 points. The content of carotenoid pigments in the grain improves product quality, making this variety ideal for pasta production.

The variety has high resistance to major diseases such as hard and soft rust, powdery mildew, brown rust, fusarium head blight, root rot, as well as pests, particularly the cereal leaf beetle. The recommended seeding rate is 5 million seeds per hectare; seeds should be treated with fungicide and insecticide prior to sowing to ensure healthy plant growth and high yield.
