Callisto is a systemic selective herbicide containing 480 g/L of the active ingredient mesotrione from the chemical group of triketones. The preparation effectively suppresses a wide range of annual and some perennial dicotyledonous weeds, as well as has an effect against annual grass weeds in early growth stages. Due to the rapid uptake of mesotrione by weeds (70-80% per day), their rapid growth is halted already on the second day after application, and complete weed death occurs within two weeks. Callisto has high selectivity for crops, especially maize, which excludes phytotoxic effects on it.
The preparation is applied by spraying crops in the growth stages from emergence to 6-8 leaves of the crop, as well as in early weed growth stages (2-4 leaves). It has pronounced soil activity, allowing control of the second weed flush, and is an excellent base for preparing tank mixes. The recommended application rate is 0.15-0.25 L/ha, and the number of applications is one. To enhance the effectiveness of treatment, surfactants (SA) must be added at a rate of 0.1-0.5% of the working solution volume.
Callisto has a toxicity class III according to WHO classification and is supplied in the form of a 5-liter concentrate suspension. The optimal temperature for application is from +12 °C to +25 °C. After application, maize can be replanted without restrictions, as well as winter barley, wheat, ryegrass, and winter rapeseed in the same year under the condition of tillage. The following spring, after tillage, sunflower, soybean, sorghum, rapeseed, and alfalfa can be sown. Sensitive crops such as sugar beets and peas are recommended to be sown no earlier than 18 months after application of the preparation.
