Description Cascade
The potato variety Cascade is a mid-season table variety of Russian selection, maturing in 85 to 90 days. Tubers have a round shape with smooth yellow skin and yellow flesh. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 92 to 122 grams, with 8 to 12 tubers per plant. Starch content is 14.0–15.7%, ensuring good culinary qualities and versatility in preparation methods including frying, boiling, and baking. The taste is rated as good to excellent, and storability reaches 95%, facilitating long-term storage without quality loss.

The plant is of medium height, intermediate type with semi-upright growth. Leaves are large, open, green with slight leaf margin waviness. The flower is of medium size with moderate anthocyanin coloring on the inner side. Tubers have medium-depth eyes, facilitating peeling. Yield varies from 111 to 260 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 319 centners, exceeding some standard varieties. Marketable tuber percentage ranges from 79–96%.

The variety is resistant to potato cyst nematode and leaf curl virus, but susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode. It shows moderate resistance to rhizoctonia, common scab, and mosaic viruses, but susceptibility to late blight requires attention during cultivation. Cascade is intended for open-ground cultivation with sowing in May, optimal planting scheme is 60x35 cm, and planting depth is 8–10 cm. Due to its characteristics and resistance, the variety is popular among producers and consumers, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
