Description BORCEC
The potato variety Borcec is medium-early and intended for producing crispy potatoes. It matures in approximately 80 days after planting. The plant is of medium height, around 75-80 cm, intermediate type with semi-erect form. Leaves are of medium size, open and green, flower bud is also medium-sized with weak anthocyanic coloring on the inner side. Tubers are round in shape with small eyes, have smooth yellow skin and yellow flesh. Marketable tuber mass ranges from 106 to 210 grams, starch content is 19.2%. Tubers do not darken or change color after peeling, which is an important advantage for consumers and processors.

The yield of the Borcec variety is high and stable, reaching from 166 to 271 centners per hectare, which is 36-40 centners higher than standard varieties Caruso and Aurora. The maximum registered yield amounted to 276.7 centners per hectare, exceeding the performance of the Zekur variety. Tubers' marketability is 87.7%, and storability reaches 95%, ensuring good storage and minimal losses during storage. The taste of the potato is rated as good to excellent, making it attractive for consumers.

The Borcec variety is characterized by resistance to a number of diseases and pests. It is resistant to the potato cancer pathogen, golden potato cyst nematode, as well as common and silver scab. Additionally, the variety exhibits drought tolerance, allowing it to be grown under various climatic conditions. However, according to the VNIIFV data, Borcec is susceptible to late blight both in foliage and tubers. Furthermore, the variety is resistant to striped mosaic, which further increases its reliability in agronomy.
