Poplar HOPEISKIY 1 is a species of weeping poplar, obtained as a result of spontaneous hybridization of white poplar and aspen. The tree reaches a height of 35-40 m, has a spreading crown with a diameter of up to 15 cm (possibly an error in the original data), which ensures a large leaf mass area.
The tree bark is gray-green and longitudinally cracked. Shoots are light green, slightly hairy, and leaves are large, round, glossy, with shallow incisions along the edge and wrinkled surfaces. The underside of the leaf is covered with a light fuzziness along the veins.
HOPEISKIY 1 grows quickly and actively forms root suckers, which makes it a valuable material for the forest industry. The tree is frost-hardy and grows successfully in floodplains of steppes, where aspen and white poplar of different sexes are usually found. This makes the variety resistant to severe climatic conditions and suitable for a wide range of applications in woodworking.
