Description NIMBUS
Nimbus is a specialized rootstock for grafting watermelons and other cucurbits, which enhances their cold hardiness and resistance to unfavorable conditions. When using the tongue grafting method, whether central or puncture, the plant receives a strong root system from pumpkin, allowing the watermelon to develop even with insufficient soil warming. This results in nearly doubled yield, larger and sweeter fruits, and shortened maturation periods.

For successful grafting, it is necessary to maintain a stable air temperature of 25–28 °C and humidity of 85–90 %. Suitable donor varieties include fig-leaved and large-fruited pumpkin, as well as luffa – the most compatible option. After the scion and rootstock have grown together, the plant is planted in the open ground, with each requiring up to 8 sq.m. Care includes covering, regular watering, temperature maintenance, and removal of excess leaves.

Nimbus provides resistance to diseases, drought, and other stress factors by transferring nutrition from the rootstock to the grafted plant. This makes the grafting method particularly valuable for gardeners working with climate-sensitive crops, and allows for the use of seedlings of different ages and repeated grafting to increase cultivation efficiency.
