Viola Victoria

Technical profile of Viola 'Victoria'

Developed by the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing, the 'Victoria' variety is the product of precise selection aimed at creating a stable, high-performance plant for landscape design. The core advantage of this cultivar lies in its phenotypic flexibility, which allows for consistent visual output across various soil and weather conditions.

Floral architecture and pigment stability

The genetic composition of this variety provides a wide range of colors. The selection team achieved high stability in three distinct color phenotypes, offering versatility for professional landscape planning:

• Yellow: high density of carotenoids for a vivid, solar effect.
• Purple: deep saturation driven by anthocyanin concentrations.
• Blue-White: a sharp bicolor pattern that enhances the spatial depth of floral displays.

This poly-color characteristic allows for complex monochromatic or contrasting color schemes while using a single genetic source.

Application and agronomic performance

Technically, 'Victoria' is designed for open-field cultivation, specifically for low-profile flower beds. The plant features high branching density and uniform peduncle distribution, which is essential for creating lush, carpet-like flower arrangements. Its resilience against thermal fluctuations makes it an ideal choice for early spring and late autumn planting. The variety requires minimal maintenance, responding well to standard irrigation and nutrient application cycles, ensuring a prolonged and continuous flowering period in urban and private garden settings.
