Cobalt is a rootstock interspecific hybrid created by Rijk Zwaan. It is characterized by an early vegetative period and an excellent balance between root system growth and lateral branching, making it an ideal choice for growing cucumbers, watermelons, and melons in protected cultivation.
Cobalt seeds possess high resistance to adverse environmental conditions: they are resistant to Fusarium, Verticillium wilt, as well as various types of rot and wilting. Thanks to this, the plant maintains its health even in heavy soils, saline soils, or in the presence of diseases.
Cobalt is widely used as grafting material for cucumbers, melons, and watermelons. When grafted, it provides a powerful root apparatus and increased vigor, which contributes to faster plant development and an extended vegetative period. For successful grafting, two methods are typically used: a 45° angled cut followed by connection with clips, or the approach method, where a cut is made on the stem of both plants and their connection is fixed.
Rootstock seeds are available in two packaging types – original from the manufacturer and supermarket seed packaging. If necessary, you can contact the sales manager for additional information on packaging.
