Tulip Jewel of Spring

Why Jewel of Spring is a Professional's Choice

In the world of Darwin hybrids, yellow often gets overshadowed by flashier varieties, but 'Jewel of Spring' wins on another front: aristocratic posture and phenomenal resilience. It is a rare case where early blooming coincides with robust immunity, making it a favorite for both greenhouse forcing and open-field cultivation.

Health as a Competitive Advantage

The main challenge with early tulips is their susceptibility to fungal infections during wet spring weather. 'Jewel of Spring' solves this: the variety possesses complex resistance to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt. Unlike many delicate varieties in its class, it successfully resists Cladosporium and is not prone to mosaic virus. This reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications and minimizes stock loss.

Who is this variety for?

• For Greenhouse Growers: Predictable growth cycles allow for precise harvest scheduling ahead of peak holiday demand.
• For Landscape Designers: Its medium height makes it ideal for both front-of-border planting and container arrangements.
• For Home Gardeners: This variety is forgiving of minor agricultural mistakes and requires no specialized maintenance.

A key strength is the stable, sturdy stem that resists lodging even in high winds. The only minor trade-off is its relative preference for specific soil conditions; in heavy clay, the bulb may decrease in size over time, so quality drainage is essential to maintain its high-performance traits.
