Description Dixie
The 'Dixie' peony is a herbaceous plant with a strong bush and sturdy brown stems reaching 75-80 cm in height. This variety is characterized by its bomb-shaped flowers, which have a diameter of about 14-16 cm and a rich purple-red or dark red-lilac hue. The flowers are densely double, gathered into elegant, perfectly shaped spheres, possessing a mild pleasant fragrance that adds a special elegance and appeal to the plant.

The 'Dixie' peony belongs to the medium-late or late blooming varieties, allowing the garden's flowering season to be prolonged. Due to its decorative nature and striking coloration, it pairs beautifully with white and pink peony varieties, as well as with other perennials such as lilies, foxgloves, and daylilies. Planting groups of these peonies on a lawn will become an eye-catching feature of any garden.

This variety was developed by breeder A. Franklin in 1931 in the USA and is known for its good cold tolerance, suitable for USDA zones 4-9. The 'Dixie' peony combines delicacy and passion, strictness and carefree charm, making it a worthy addition to any floral arrangement or flowerbed.
