Geranium 'Ruby' is a large-flowered variety with bright, velvety petals of ruby hue, creating striking color effects thanks to the pink edge and center. The plant reaches a height of about 35 cm and a width of up to 30 cm; the canopy spreads wide, and the above-ground part is covered with dense green foliage featuring trifoliate leaves with slight pubescence. Inflorescences are arranged on vertical stems along the petioles, forming buds of various degrees of opening.
In bloom, 'Ruby' displays about 20 corymbose inflorescences, each approximately 12–13 cm in size and containing simple flowers with a diameter of about 6 cm. The main coloration is purplish-red with a characteristic medium purplish-brown spot; there is no aroma. Bloom lasts from 100 to 115 days, ensuring a long period of decorative effect.
The variety is distinguished by medium resistance to diseases and pests, as well as good adaptability both in pots and in open ground. To achieve a fuller habit, pinching is recommended, and for optimal growth, feeding with magnesium sulfate and providing plenty of diffused sunlight with a light breeze is advised. Thanks to these characteristics, the geranium 'Ruby' is ideal for pot cultivation in containers as well as for creating colorful borders in the garden.
