The dry skin is brown, while the juicy parts are white. The neck is thin or of medium thickness, and the taste is characterized as sharp. The variety is distinguished by high market yield, ranging from 377 to 593 centners per hectare, which is 14-121 centners higher compared to other regional standards. Maturity before harvest reaches 75-85%, and after ripening - 100%, making it suitable for long-term storage.
Historically, Kuzmichevsky onion has been grown in the village of Kuzmichi in the Gorodishensky District of the Volgograd Region. Its production is associated with the collective farm «Kuzmichevsky», founded in 1976, which became one of the major onion producers in the region. The transition from a planned economy to a market economy influenced cultivation methods and yield, but the variety has retained its popularity due to high quality and yield. In the region, sharp onion varieties are predominantly grown, including Kuzmichevsky, as they store better and have increased phytoncide content.
