Onion ELVI

Technical Profile of Chives 'Elvi'

Developed by the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK) and Gavrish, the 'Elvi' variety is a specialized tool for professional horticulture. Unlike wild strains, these chives deliver consistent productivity levels of up to 100 tons per hectare, making them a high-yield asset for intensive farming operations.

Agronomic Parameters and Morphology

• Maturation Cycle: Technical maturity is reached within 90–100 days of the vegetation period.
• Foliage Characteristics: Optimized for fresh market salad use and commercial processing, the plant maintains a tender leaf texture despite a high growth rate.
• Yield Potential: Individual bulb mass reaches 80–90 grams. This is a critical technical factor: the plant's compact architecture allows for high-density planting without compromising commercial quality.

Elvi stands out for its adaptability to challenging climate conditions. As a perennial crop, it ensures a stable return on investment by eliminating the need for annual reseeding. From a supply chain perspective, the variety is highly predictable: the standardized bulb size minimizes waste during automated processing and packaging lines.
