Siberian onion 'Alves' is an early-maturing perennial variety, distinguished by its rapid maturity and high frost resistance. It takes only 25-32 days from the start of leaf growth to technical maturity. The plant is of medium height with upright sword-shaped leaves of a glaucous-green color with a waxy bloom, up to 30 cm long and about 2.8-3 cm wide. Bulbs with a diameter of 2 to 4 cm store well and can be used for propagation. The variety is suitable for cultivation in various regions and is resistant to diseases. Alves is valued for its spicy taste and high content of vitamin C, carotene, vitamins B1, B2, PP, amino acids, minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, and other trace elements. The onion has a semi-sharp taste with a characteristic piquant aroma, making it an excellent addition to salads, soups, vinaigrettes, and meat dishes, especially game. Leaves can be cut several times during the growing season, allowing for fresh greens up to 3-4 times. For growing this variety, it is recommended to choose fertile plots with good drainage, preferably after cucumbers, tomatoes, or legumes. Seeds are sown in rows with a sowing depth of 1-2 cm and a distance of 4-6 cm between plants, and 20-30 cm between rows. Care includes regular weeding, loosening, fertilizing, and watering. On one place, the onion grows well for 4-5 years. Thanks to its agro-technical features and taste qualities, Alves is a universal and in-demand variety for home and industrial cultivation.
