Karotan

Carrot Karotan — a late-maturing, flaky-type variety developed by breeders of the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. This hybrid has a vegetation period of about 150-160 days and is intended for cultivation in open ground on well-tilled loamy and sandy loam soils. Karotan is successfully grown in various agro-climatic regions, including Ukraine and Europe, and is widely used on an industrial scale due to its high yield — with proper agronomy, up to 5-6.8 kg of roots can be harvested per square meter.

The carrots of Karotan have a conical shape, reach up to 16 cm in length, and weigh on average between 200 and 250 grams. They have a bright orange color and are characterized by high levels of vitamins, carotene, and sugar. Carrots do not accumulate nitrates, making them safe and beneficial for the body. Additionally, the variety is resistant to major diseases and pests, does not tend to crack, and retains its market appearance during transportation. Karotan is suitable for mechanized harvesting, which simplifies the harvest process.

This carrot variety is versatile in use: it is excellent for fresh consumption, salad preparation, juice, puree, and hot dishes. Due to its structure and composition, Karotan carrots retain their flavor and nutritional value after culinary processing, freezing, canning, and long-term storage. This makes it an optimal choice for both fresh markets and industrial processing into juices, purees, seasonings, and frozen products.
