The Majorca melon is a mid-early Galia-type hybrid developed in 2021. From germination to fruiting, it takes 85-90 days. The plant is trailing with medium-sized leaves, forming round fruits of light yellow color with a thin white net on the rind. Fruit weight ranges from 1.0 to 1.5 kg, flesh is light green, juicy, very sweet and aromatic, with a pleasant texture. The rind is thin, and the seed cavity is very small, making the fruits particularly attractive to consumers.
Majorca is characterized by good transportability and a long storage period: up to one month in home conditions and up to two months in storage facilities. The hybrid is resistant to major diseases such as fusarium wilt and powdery mildew, which significantly eases care and increases crop reliability. It is recommended to grow both in open ground and in protected conditions, while the optimal planting density should not exceed 2 plants per square meter.
When following high agricultural technology, the plant is capable of forming up to 4-5 fruits, providing a yield of up to 12 kg per square meter. Due to its taste qualities, disease resistance, and good fruit preservation, Majorca melon is an excellent choice for growing both in personal households and for commercial purposes.
