Melon Andante

Growing Experience: The Andante Hybrid

When working with the "Andante" hybrid from Enza Limited, you immediately realize that Dutch breeding stands for reliability. For any grower, timing is everything, and Andante delivers: 65-70 days from transplanting to harvest. This allows for precise logistics planning, ensuring you never leave the produce in the field longer than necessary.

Field Performance and Harvest

The fruit itself represents the "gold standard" for the fresh market. An attractive orange-yellow rind combined with a rich, orange flesh makes it highly appealing for retail shelves. The fruit weight falls into two main categories, which simplifies post-harvest grading:

• Standard segment: 1.5–2.0 kg — the perfect size for a single consumer.
• Large segment: 2.0–3.0 kg — ideal for family-sized purchases.

Resilience and Cultivation

During cultivation, this hybrid shows excellent uniformity. The fruit is not prone to cracking, provided the basic irrigation schedule is maintained. Cultivation is straightforward; like most melons in this class, Andante responds well to quality fertilization but does not require excessive handling, which helps keep labor costs in check. If you are looking for a short-cycle crop with a commercial appearance that looks great on the shelf, this hybrid is a workhorse you can rely on for intensive production.
