Alfalfa Manychskaya is a high-yielding variety of forage crop intended for mowing and pasture use. Plants of this variety have a semi-decumbent bush with good density and are able to grow quickly in spring and after mowing. Plant height in the first year reaches 30-50 cm, and in the second and third year - 1 meter and more. The root system consists of a taproot with powerful lateral shoots, which in the dry steppe zone penetrate to a depth of 2-3 meters in the first year and up to 10 meters and more in subsequent years, ensuring high drought resistance of the crop.
The variety is distinguished by high yield: 24-35 tons of green mass, 6-8 tons of hay, and 0.15-0.20 tons of seeds per hectare. Alfalfa Manychskaya is resistant to winter conditions and drought, which makes it a reliable choice for growing in various climatic zones. The plant is sun-loving and prefers a long day, seeds germinate at 2-3°C, and the optimal temperature for growth is 18-20°C. Seedlings withstand small early spring frosts and sharp temperature fluctuations well. Moisture-loving crop, it easily withstands lack of moisture due to a deep root system.
For successful cultivation of alfalfa Manychskaya, careful pre-sowing soil preparation is important, including leveling and rolling. The winter hardiness of the variety largely depends on the correct timing of the last mowing, which is recommended to be carried out 30-45 days before stable frosts so that the plant has time to grow, form a rosette, and accumulate reserves of nutrients. In pure sowing with moderate mowing, alfalfa can be used for 5-6 years, and in pastures and seed sowings - up to 8-10 years. Thanks to its qualities, alfalfa Manychskaya is deservedly considered one of the kings of forage crops.
