DescriptionMEDIA
Medialucerne is a high-yielding variety of a perennial fodder crop from the legume family, developed in the selection and seed production laboratory of fodder crops of the Southern Research Institute of Agriculture (NIISh) of the South-East. This variety represents a blue-hybrid lucerne with erect or slightly sprawling bushes, making it convenient for mechanized harvesting. The bushes have medium bushiness with 40-50 stems and good uniform foliage. The flowers of lucerne are colored in purple and lilac shades, while the seeds are small, yellow, and have high seed productivity, ensuring stable and efficient reproduction of the variety.
Lucerne Media boasts a powerful and deep taproot system with a well-expressed main root and the presence of nodules, which contributes to soil structure improvement and humus accumulation. Over the years of variety testing, the variety has shown high yields of green mass and seeds, surpassing standard varieties in these indicators. Rapid spring regrowth and a long period of mass flowering contribute to better pollination and the formation of a larger number of pods and seeds on the plant. This makes the variety particularly valuable for fodder production.
Lucerne Media is an excellent source of complete protein, vitamins, trace elements, and non-nitrogenous extractive substances such as glucose, fructose, and sucrose. The green mass of lucerne contains up to 10% protein, and in dried form, up to 20%, making it an indispensable feed for livestock. Due to its high nutritional value and resistance to growing conditions, this variety is widely used in agriculture to obtain quality feed and improve soil fertility.
