Flax Usivskyi

Agronomic Profile: Fiber Flax Performance

When operating in the technical fiber market, reliability of the seed stock is the primary KPI for any farm manager. The "Usivskyi" variety, developed by the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS, provides a predictable production cycle, minimizing the need for constant chemical intervention. In field conditions, this variety proves to be a robust, high-performance crop suitable for intensive farming.

Key Operational Parameters

• Vegetation Period: 75–90 days. This concise window allows for optimized harvest planning, ensuring equipment is utilized efficiently without stretching the logistics chain.
• Yield Potential: 1.5–2.5 t/ha. These figures are consistent with professional field management, assuming proper soil prep and fertilization protocols are met.
• Disease Resistance: High resistance to Anthracnose and Fusarium is a significant operational advantage. It reduces the frequency and cost of fungicide applications, translating directly into higher profit margins.

Field Management and Maintenance

As a fiber flax, "Usivskyi" demands precise soil preparation to ensure even germination and uniform stand development. From an operator’s perspective, the variety is highly manageable. It shows excellent stand uniformity, which makes harvesting significantly easier, as the crop is not prone to lodging. Fewer passes and less machine downtime during the harvest mean lower fuel consumption and labor costs per hectare.

The variety is specifically bred for the fiber industry, meaning the plant architecture is optimized for mechanical harvesting. By choosing a variety with built-in resistance to common pathogens, you reduce the logistical burden of field monitoring and emergency chemical treatments. This is a straightforward, industrial-grade crop that delivers consistent quality for fiber processors.
