Flax MERILIN

MERILIN is a variety of flax (Linum usitatissimum L. f. elongata) intended for the production of flax fiber. It belongs to late-maturing varieties with a vegetation period ranging from 74 to 101 days. The plant is characterized by a tall growth form and a long stem, which contributes to the production of high-quality long fiber. The seeds of the variety are brown in color, with a mass of 1000 seeds amounting to 4.9 grams.

The variety is distinguished by good resistance to lodging and shattering, ensuring crop preservation and increasing harvesting efficiency. Resistance to lodging is rated at 4.8 points, and resistance to shattering at 4.3 points. Average straw yield in recommended regions is 63.6 centners per hectare, while seed yield reaches 7.5 centners per hectare.

Fiber content in the plant is 31.3%, with a long fiber yield of 25.1%. The relative breaking load of the fiber is 15.6 gf/tex, indicating the high quality and strength of the resulting material. The MERILIN variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Northwestern, Central, Volga-Vyatka, and Western Siberian regions.
