Flax Glínium

Stability and Oil Yield: A Focus on Glinum

The «Glinum» flax variety, developed by the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS of Ukraine, is a proven choice for farmers aiming for a balance between high oil yield and operational efficiency. Designed for the diverse climatic conditions of Ukraine, this variety provides predictable results, serving as a reliable component in intensive crop rotation cycles.

Field Performance and Agronomic Management

Agricultural enterprises often select «Glinum» due to its ability to act as an excellent predecessor for winter crops. Its vigorous early growth helps outcompete weeds, reducing the need for aggressive herbicide applications. Key practical considerations for agronomists include:

• Sowing Efficiency: High germination energy allows for early-season planting, ensuring a head start even in unpredictable spring conditions.
• Crop Monitoring: During the flowering stage, the vibrant blue and sky-blue flowers provide a clear indicator of crop health and variety purity.
• Harvesting: The brown seeds are well-filled and uniform, simplifying the calibration of harvesting equipment and significantly reducing post-harvest losses.

Economic Value

For those managing the supply chain, «Glinum» is highly attractive due to its reliable oil content. The robust brown coat of the seeds ensures better storage stability on the farm before delivery to processing facilities. Because the variety shows consistent ripening, it allows for better scheduling of desiccation and mechanical harvesting, making it a low-risk, high-return option for commercial flax production.
