Flax Lira

Lira Flax: A Legacy of Ukrainian Breeding

The 'Lira' flax variety stands as a significant achievement by the Institute of Agriculture of Polissya (UAAS). Designed specifically for the textile industry, this fiber flax variety has secured a firm position in the Ukrainian agricultural market by consistently meeting the strict technical requirements for fiber quality and uniformity.

Specialization and Agronomic Profile

Lira is classified as a traditional fiber flax, with its entire genetic potential focused on the yield and quality of long fiber. Unlike oilseed varieties, Lira is optimized for the production of fine, strong fibers suitable for the manufacturing of medium-density textiles.

• Fiber Quality: The variety is renowned for producing flexible, high-tensile strength fibers, which are essential for high-quality yarn spinning.
• Field Performance: The variety exhibits notable resistance to lodging, a critical factor for mechanized harvesting in the humid and temperate climate of the Polissya region.

Market Reputation

In the landscape of modern flax cultivation, Lira is valued as a "reliable performer." Its reputation is built on predictability—growers know exactly what to expect in terms of maturation time and fiber output. For textile mills, Lira represents a dependable source of raw material that ensures operational stability. Developed by the Institute of Agriculture of Polissya, the variety remains a benchmark for local adaptation, balancing growth vigor with the specific biochemical requirements of the fiber-making process.
