Flax NORD

Fiber Quality for Industrial Textile Production

The «Nord» flax variety represents a specialized achievement in fiber-flax breeding, developed by the Federal Research Center for Bast Fiber Crops (FGBNU FNC LK). The breeding team, led by Margarita Nikandrova, Tamara Ryseva, and Svetlana Utkina, focused on creating a cultivar that meets the rigorous demands of the modern textile industry. This variety has established itself as a reliable source of raw material for high-quality yarn and textile manufacturing.

Performance and Industry Application

The primary advantage of «Nord» lies in its ability to yield high-quality long fiber, which is the cornerstone of its market value. The crop is engineered to excel in traditional flax-growing environments, providing consistent results that simplify the primary processing stage at processing facilities. By focusing on fiber structure and yield stability, the variety ensures a lower wastage rate during industrial manufacturing processes.

• Originator: Federal Research Center for Bast Fiber Crops (Russia).
• Breeding Team: M.L. Nikandrova, T.A. Ryseva, S.V. Utkina.
• Primary Use: Industrial textile production.
• Crop Type: Fiber flax (Dolgunets).

For growers supplying raw materials to the textile sector, «Nord» offers a standardized solution that bridges the gap between field harvest and factory performance. Its reputation is built on the predictable mechanical properties of the stem, making it a preferred option for large-scale production cycles where quality consistency is non-negotiable.
